“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” -Helen Keller
Growing up in an Italian household, I became intrigued with how my family communicated through body language. I enjoy photographing special candid moments of those closest to me, for those people inspire me. Needing to focus solely on them, I isolate and separate expression and gesture from verbal speech and setting. Since time holds a presence within setting, by removing the setting time is partially hidden.
For the exhibition titled Espied, my photographs may hold muteness, but they still retain visual dialogue, exchange, and mystery through the representation of expression and body language. In Espied the Italian culture holds the spotlight. Most of the photographs are candid. Italian gestures, movements, and perspective greatly influence the manner and style in which I photograph the individuals represented, not only my family.
A special thank you to my family, friends, the Biola Art Dep., Biola University & the people photographed.
